Okay, whoa. I loved your recent poems Rose, but watch out. Looks like there's a new guy in town. I would keep my eye on Michael. Didn't know he had a bent toward poetry. I'm kind of impressed by his limerick here. Not sure you should allow him to post his stuff on your blog, he's apt to steal the show. Teasing, your poems are pretty awesome, but have to say.... watch him. ;o)
I like to write Haiku poetry. This form of poetry originates from Japan. Haiku has a specific form: 3 lines, 17 syllables. 1st line has 5 syllables, 2nd line has 7 and 3rd line has 5. The subject of Haiku is nature. It's like a form of meditation for me as you have to immerse yourself in nature, connect with it and then express it. A very mind clearing and spiritual experience.
like this. I am continually amazed at the discipline it must take to stay within the rules and yet say something that grabs. impressive.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I love writing these. Maybe I'll try a Limerick someday!
ReplyDeleteThey say that a limerick must rhyme,
ReplyDeleteI think poems with rules are a crime
I try and I try
To be a poetry guy
And I fail at it time after time
